Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, little town that is a bit sleepy. Many people unfamiliar with the word frequently think that there is a separate island to the west of Montreal however, it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to every aspect of the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time was not long in the city. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. Her first ambition was to be a dancer. Then, a growth rate increased her height and she outgrew all of the dance partners she was able to have. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 foot 1 inches tall. When I outgrew my male companions, I quit. There are many dancers who make the move to acting. In the case of Bruce, it was her drama instructor who pushed her into this path. It was the teacher who recommended she go after a role in the annual school production. The student tried it out, and ended up playing the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. Brugel's career spans over twenty years, and she's been in over 60 productions including big screen productions as well as smaller screens. The most well-known role she played was the one of Rita (pictured in the below photo) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian part of the cast for the season 1 of the series and only appeared on occasion.
