Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized for her highly commendable performances in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The movie Piano has won several awards for her including an Oscar. Her acting career began in Broadway and she worked on a wide range of Broadway and Off Broadway assignments. From her early years she's been enthusiastic about acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school play. Her mumps made her deaf and blind in one ear, but she refused to let that to hinder her ambitions of becoming an actress. She was a drama major at the college in Pittsburgh, then relocated from Pittsburgh into New York City to follow her dream. She was introduced to Beth Henley in an elevator and they collaborated in Broadway Crimes of the Heart which was Hunter's debut film. She relocated in Los Angeles and tried to land the roles in films. in Swing Shift, she landed her first role as a character support. She has appeared in countless television series, films and feature films throughout the course of her career. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
